The Transfigured Love of God.
In my retirement
And freed from fear
I have a second health career.
Within the Church
For love I search
A hospital chaplaincy volunteer.
By your bed
I might appear
Asking ‘Can I visit here,
Perhaps to listen,
Perhaps to cheer?’
Some can share,
Our lives cohere.
A man greeted me
And lo
I’d cured his cancer
Long ago.
But he was wrong
It wasn’t me
It was the whole community!
For cures are
To Jesus – glory.
For cures are
To the Father – glory.
For cures,
‘All I have is yours’
Says the Spirit.
For cures,
To each in the community,
(And that includes you),
Are glory.
For Jesus delights in us
As a mother delights in her baby.
For Jesus delights in us
In the transfigured love of God.
